About P.R.E.P.
The Personalized Records for Emergency Providers or P.R.E.P. Initiative is a non-profit volunteer organization founded by EMTs in North Carolina. In 2018, 140 million Americans visited the Emergency Department. That number is expected to grow by another 17 million by 2030. Yet, both in our experience and according to past studies, information gaps is a wide and consequential problem in emergency medicine. Thus, to tackle this problem head on, P.R.E.P. was founded.

P.R.E.P.'s work is primarily done through current college students or recent college graduate in or around the regions we operate who are dedicated to servicing the health and wellbeing of their community. Our volunteers includes students and graduates from UNC-Chapel Hill, Duke University, North Carolina State University, and Belmont Abbey College.
Our Process
Our current process includes going door to door in neighborhoods throughout North Carolina, giving out P.R.E.P. cards. P.R.E.P. cards are paper cards designed to be the exact dimensions of a credit card that contains important medical information according to detailed studies done in the past and is meant to stay with you like any other card you keep.
